In Karelia the International Folklore Festival “Four Seasons in Kalevala” takes place.

On 26 August in Yushkozero village of Kalevala National Region of Karelia the International Folklore Festival “Four Seasons in Kalevala” takes place.

The aim of the festival is rebirth of the language and culture of Northern Karel people, development of economical potential of the region via cultural, rural, ecological an scientific tourism.
As the official web-site of authority bodies of the republic says, the program of the “Four Seasons in Kalevala” 2006 includes the meeting with a famous in the republic and outside its borders ethnographical theater “Gornitsa”, national vocal-instrumental group “Koski”. The guests of the festival will see the performance of the play “Sing a song, Karel” by E. Narya of the national amateur theater of Kalevala village. For the sports fans there is a football match and a local Yushkozero regatta.
The organizers of the festival are the Administration of Local Self-Government of Kalevala National Region, Yushkozero Village Administration, The State Committee of the Karelia Republic on National Politics Affairs and the public organization “Kalevalskoye Zemlyachestvo”.
